Vitamin D is produced in your body when you get sun. 15 minutes a day is the best way to get vitamin D, and this natural vitamin D has the best energy. So get outside for some sun today, no matter the weather!
However, the amount of pigment in your skin and winter latitude of the sun can diminish the amount of the UV-B rays you can get.
Sunlight also minimizes the effects of viruses. A 2020 study found that people who have lower levels of vitamin D were more likely to die from corona virus. During the 1918 Spanish Flu epidemic, medics found that severely ill flu patients nursed outdoors recovered better than those treated indoors. A combination of fresh air and sunlight seems to have prevented deaths among patients; and infections among medical staff.
Sunlight can benefit many other areas of your health, such as your endocrine system.
As far as preventing cancer, the recommended amount of vitamin D is from 4000-8000 IUs daily. This is are far higher than the U.S. RDA of 400 IUs.² Vitamin D needs vitamin K to work, which can be found in green vegetables or supplemented.
Many of the diseases prevented by vitamin D are high profit: So the healthcare industry has no incentive to inform the public about the benefits of vitamin D, and has even been actively resistant to vitamin D awareness.
Note: The majority of vitamin D supplements are produced from sheep skin oil -- and sheep can be tortured via a barbaric agricultural practice called mulesing. So I recommend buying plant-based vitamin D or cod liver oil.

1. 90% of AMERICANS ARE VITAMIN D DEFICIENT
Studies have found that as much as 90% of the American population is vitamin D deficient.² People suffering from cancer almost always demonstrate severe vitamin D deficiency, as do people with osteoporosis and multiple sclerosis.³
African Americans have even higher vitamin D deficiency rates, resulting in enormously higher rates of cancer among blacks compared to whites.
πππ
2. US RDA FOR VITAMIN D IS INADEQUATE TO PREVENT CANCER
The U.S. RDA recommends 600 - 800 IUs per day. However, a 2011 study found that we need more vitamin D each day than the government recommends. The study found that a typical adult needs 4,000 - 8,000 IUs of vitamin D each day to prevent breast cancer, colon cancer, MS and type-1 diabetes.²
Cedric Garland, researcher at UC San Diego Moores Cancer Center, said:
"We found that daily intakes of vitamin D by adults in the range of 4,000 to 8,000 IU [international units] are needed to maintain blood levels of vitamin D metabolites in the range needed to reduce by about half the risk of several diseases -- breast cancer, colon cancer, multiple sclerosis and type 1 diabetes." ⁴
πππ
3. CONDITIONS BENEFITED BY VITAMIN D
Vitamin D deficiency may be the root cause behind so many degenerative diseases that correcting this deficiency across the population could threaten the for-profit "sick care industry" that dominates western medicine today.
Here are some of the many diseases prevented or benefited by vitamin D:⁵
- Alzheimer's disease
- Asthma (Researchers found that people who took vitamin D supplements were 50 percent less likely to suffer from asthma attacks severe enough to require emergency room visits or hospital admission.)
- Autism
- Colds , flu, septic shock and other infections diseases
- Cancer, including breast, ovarian, prostate, bladder, and colon cancers
- Cavities
- Crohn's disease
- Cystic fibrosis
- Dementia
- Diabetes
- Depression
- Eczema & Psoriasis
- Hearing loss
- Heart disease
- Hypertension
- Infertility
- Inflammatory Bowel Disease
- Insomnia
- Macular degeneration
- Menopausal back pain
- Migraines
- MS
- Muscle pain
- Obesity -- Including Overweight Toddlers
- Osteoporosis
- Periodontal disease
- Pre eclampsia
- Reduced C-section risk
- Rheumatoid arthritis
- Rickets
- Seizures
- Septicemia
- Schizophrenia (Data suggests that vitamin D deficiency in pregnant women could increase their risk of giving birth to children with neurodevelopmental disorders, such as autism and schizophrenia, which are both on the rise worldwide. In a 2018 study published in the journal Scientific Reports, researchers identified a similar link between vitamin D deficiency and schizophrenia. They discovered that newborn babies with low vitamin D levels had a higher risk of developing schizophrenia as they aged.)

4. STUDY ABOUT LOWER DEATH RATES FROM CANCER IN SUNNIER CLIMATES
There have been many studies that have looked at the relationship between vitamin D and cancer.
A 2017 study examined U.S. levels of vitamin D and breast cancer incidence. Low levels of vitamin D correlated with a higher incidence of breast cancer:
"Findings of our study conclude that vitamin D deficiency is associated with risk of breast cancer." ⁶A 2006 study evaluated cancer rates across the U.S. according to sunlight levels. The study found that in sunnier states, participants had higher vitamin D levels and half or less as much cancer as the residents of states with low winter sunlight levels. The study also found that African Americans and others with more skin pigment, which acts to block the sun, suffer from more cancer deaths.¹
Vitamin D Halts Growth of Breast Cancer Tumors
This graph from the study shows that breast cancer death rates are higher in areas with low winter sunlight levels ,and lower in sunny areas.
- Red indicates higher levels of cancer, blue indicates lower levels.
- 500 indicates higher sunlight levels, 300 indicates lower sunlight levels.
Vitamin D and Colon Cancer
This graph from the study shows that death rates for colon cancer are higher in areas with low levels of winter sunlight and lower in sunny areas

5. HOW VITAMIN D WORKS
Vitamin D it isn't actually a vitamin at all but a potent hormone that influences nearly 3,000 of your 25,000 genes. It literally turns on and off genes that can exacerbate -- or prevent -- many diseases.
Vitamin D cream can be rubbed directly on tumors to make them vanish. Resveratrol can be used to amplify the results of vitamin D.⁷
I have found that when I am low on vitamin D -- I am hungry all the time, no matter what I eat. Vitamin D deficiency is linked to obesity, so it probably drives over eating. (Lack of sleep also causes overeating and is linked to excess weight.) It is theorized that sunshine may also promote body fat loss. Vitamin D may be the hormonal mechanism by which this fat loss phenomenon operates. Obesity cuts vitamin D utilization in the body in half, so if you have this weight issue, double up on vitamin D.
π₯π₯¬π₯¦
Evidence shows that vitamin D is dependent on vitamin K. Vitamin D improves your bone health by helping you absorb calcium. But there is new evidence vitamin K2 directs the calcium to your skeleton, while preventing it from being deposited where you don't want it -- i.e., your organs, joint spaces, and arteries. A large part of arterial plaque consists of calcium deposits (atherosclerosis), hence the term "hardening of the arteries.
Vitamin K1 is found in green vegetables, it goes directly to your liver and helps you maintain a healthy blood clotting system. (This is the kind of K that infants need to help prevent a serious bleeding disorder.)
πππΆ️
Sun
π The best way to get vitamin D is to spend 15 minutes a day in direct sun (behind glass won't work). When skin cells are exposed to sunlight, dietary cholesterol (7 - dehydrocholesterol) is converted into a crude form of vitamin D known as cholecalciferol, which is then travels to the liver where it is converted to vitamin D .
Foods
Foods
π You can get lesser amounts of vitamin D in foods, such as fish: Cod liver oil, salmon, trout, mackerel, tuna, halibut, herring, sardines, flounder. Unfortunately, most of those fish are typically contaminated with mercury. However, Barleans and Nordic Naturals are a few companies that do purity test their fish oils. Cod liver oil provides a small amount of vitamin D per teaspoon, in addition to other beneficial components, such as vitamin A and Omega-3 fatty acids. (Often manufacturers supplement more additional vitamins in their cod liver oil.)
π You can also get vitamin D from mushrooms.
Supplements
Vitamin D supplements are most often synthesized from sheep skin oil (lanolin) or from plant sources, to produce vitamin D3. You will often find lanolin in cosmetics or lotions. However, agricultural practices can involve torture of the sheep. For myself, I've decided I will buy plant-based vitamin D in the future.
Most Vitamin D is Produced from Sheep that May Be Tortured
The pictures are extremely graphic and beyond comprehension.
As of 2017, 65% of the wool coming from Australia includes sheep that were mulesed.⁸
As of 2017, 65% of the wool coming from Australia includes sheep that were mulesed.⁸
The largest lanolin producers in the world are China, Australia, and India.⁹ Australia backs the barbaric practice, and China and India are notorious for the lack of humane treatment for humans and animals, so they cannot be trusted to provide ethically farmed sheep. (China sells human organs from their live political prisoners (10), who are often killed afterwards¹¹ -- they are not going to afford animals any kinder treatment. You can find vats of lanolin for sale on Alibaba, so it is very easy to buy across the world.)
I contacted the following companies and asked where they get their lanolin and if it is cruelty-free.
I contacted the following companies and asked where they get their lanolin and if it is cruelty-free.
- Now Foods: No response
- Natural Factors: No response
- Seeking Health π₯: They said their lanolin was sourced in the U.S., and "the sheep are raised in a cruelty free environment."
The process to synthesize vitamin D3 also may involve chemicals that likely aren't good for you. To synthesize vitamin D from lanolin, manufacturers first purify it and crystallize it, then put it through a chemical process that produces 7-dehydrocholesterol. The 7-dehydrocholesterol is then liquefied in an organic solvent and exposed to ultraviolet radiation. These chemical changes turn 7-dehydrocholesterol into a substance called vitamin D-3, or cholecalciferol. Next, manufacturers further purify and crystallize this vitamin and add it to their products. Any or all of these chemicals can leave a residue in the product that isn't good for you.

8.VITAMIN D RECOMMENDATIONS
Plant-Based Vitamin D Supplements
Vitamin D2 (ergocalciferol) is often used to supplement milk and other food products. However, studies seem to indicate that vitamin D2 isn't as easily absorbed by the body since its plant based.
Fortunately, in recent years a way has been developed to extract vitamin D3 from plants as well. This D3 is made from lichen.
Naturelo Vitamin D3: Organic, Vegan & Purity Tested
Naturelo brand vitamin D3 is extracted from wild-harvested organic lichen, and they third-party test for purity. It appears to be the best priced for what you get. Sometimes the manufacturer is priced less, sometimes Iherbπ₯. You can use both links below to check. Iherb ships for only $1 per item. When I ordered from Iherb, my order was shipped the same day.
Iherb:
MRM brand is non-GMO verified, but does not appear to be organic or tested for purity. Some of the comments indicate it may have a musty smell from the lichen. Shipping is only $1.
MRM Vitamin D3 Plus K2: Vegan
